St. Louis City Crime Statistics Toolbox

Safe City Crime Map   --   This website, prepared by the St. Louis City Police Department, allows one to zero in on a given address, then select one given crime category.  Then an interactive map will appear showing instances where police were called for that given crime; however, it does not list names of convicts and/or suspects for crimes.  This is the site that has some city officials and the local media upset, because it would give the city "a bad image" and "frighten people about city living."  Translation:  People will be able to see the TRUTH about city crime, and the media won't be able to cover it up.  So visit while you can, because the site's opponents might put enough pressure on to get it taken down.  CAVEAT:  It takes good browser operating skill and patience to get the most out of this site.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Case Data   --   If you want names, come here.  This is the front page of the Circuit Attorney's site.  Click on the "Search Case Data" image in the upper right, the one with the state seal and the magnifying glass.  That will lead you to disclaimers, and after that, to a clickable city map where one may click a neighborhood and see a list of names of that neighborhod's denizens who have been charged and/or convicted of crimes.  Though this appears on the Circuit Attorney's site, the credit for its establishment rightly goes to Mariano Favazza, St. Louis City Circuit Court Clerk, who lobbied for it and had to muddle through the objections of certain city judges who were against the idea.
